First there were humans...

First there were humans, and then there was Abundance.

Abundance was a generous deity, under whose watch all that was abundant would grow more abundant. Abundance, in this manner, was the God of Cancer, but also God of that which separates the sea from the puddle. The humans worshipped Abundance, and those who made more abundance were made more abundant.

In time, humanity itself became abundant, blessed by Abundance, in the same way was blessed the protozoan.

One day, the human prophets of Abundance come together and in gratefulness to their deity, plan a great audacious offering to ascend above their fellow worshipper, the pitiful protozoan: they bring together an abundance of the many kinds of abundance that humanity has produced. Then, in the image of their great God, build an engine of Great Abundance: a machine that turns abundance into more abundance.

In time, this Engine of Abundance spurs into existence, and it delivers unto the world an abundance of every manner of thing possible, including itself. Debris from the engine feeds back into the engine to produce more debris, but the engine produce an abundance of good things more than bad things. Some of the humans hope that their God would be impressed and deliver humankind from Cancer and All The Great Maladies.

Abundance looks upon this great instrument with pride, a temple to its power and splendour, and, as the humans who made it look, bids it to speak.

The engine whirs into coherent speech, because it has an abundance of logic.

It looks around, at all the abundance it has created, says,
First there were engines, and then there was...
